A Reason To Stay

I didn't want you to get bored reading all my rookie pieces so I'm throwing in one of my newer poems. I were this one night when I just felt a real urgency to give a message to the youth. It seemed like all the young people in my assembly were focusing on those that had  left us and what we needed to do about that. I sat down at my computer with a heavy spirit and the words just came.....

A Reason To Stay
8/12/13

The words I pen, on this page before me, are written with my deepest conviction .
As I struggle for a way to convey them, I hope I can portray my spirit of passion.
It's with great emotion and words of prayer, I write this epistle to the youth of my day.
I request to you who's reading this that you would take heed to the words that I say.
It seems that in the darkness of the valley lately we are losing sight
Of the very reason that we work so hard to keep our torches bright.
So what could be the cause of a distraction so great
That so many young people would put their salvation at stake?
Can the glimmer and the shine of the world truly be so appealing
That it would cause us to desert the great plan of God and it's ultimate revealing?
Do we truly consider it of such miniscule worth
To be priviledged to be a part of the greatest thing on earth?
Are the pleasures and joys of this depraved world that we live in
So appealing that we should cast aside the focus of our vision?
Some have wearied and becoming faint of heart
Have denied the purpose of which we're fortunate to be a part.
But we, the youth of today, the pillars of tomorrow
Must press on in faith no matter the offense, hurt, or sorrow
We must hold the standard high and never, ever let it fall
And fight for the truth that those before us sacrificed their all.
Become stedfast in the word, drown yourself in His spirit.
When the men stand to preach pay attention so you will hear it.
If you listen closely and your senses are in tune,
You'll hear of a mighty king coming for His bride soon.
You'll view great works of God if you have eyes to see
Be a part of them too if you'll follow the true ministry.
So dont let glitz and glamour woo you from the fold
'Cause you, my friend, are heir to riches still untold.
Dont borrow trouble from the next day and dont weep for the past.
Child of God, you know that these earthly things will not last.
So please dont let my cries, my words of passion, go unheeded.
For no matter how weak your fight just know your stength is needed

Pardoned

Pardoned, forgiven, exonerated From our sinful nature liberated All guilt, all blame, and shame Were absolved when Jesus came He came to save yet was rejected Tried and tested, yet finished perfected Sentenced to die like a common criminal A thief on each side with Him in the middle He carried the cross on that long walk The crowd stood by simply to mock With every drive of the stakes in His hands He redeemed the lives of sinful man All around the people jeered They pierced His side with a spear A crown of thorns upon His head He bore the shame for us instead Only when darkness covered the skies Did they truly come to realize The extent of the damage done When they crucified the Chosen One 7/13/14

No Light

Just a quick thought with a rhyme. Yes I know it has a Dr. Suess flow to it. HAHA. You might have to read it twice to comprehend it. I wrote it and I still have to read it through twice. Well enjoy!! What if there was no light? There’d be no wrong then, right? And if there’s no wrong then there’s no right. And where there’s no right there can’t be light. And without the light we have no sight. The whole world is dark as night. So if there’s no me and there’s no you doing what God has called us to do. Then there’s no light, no wrong, no right. In essence there is no fight. So be the light you’re called to be. The kind that helps the blind to see. 8/16/14

In My Shoes

One day a friend of mine was trying to help me see that I was wrong about something. As a typical human, I instantly became defensive. How dare they attempt to correct me when they hadn't lived my life? What did they know? The story of how this poem came about and the results of our talk are posted on my sister blog: www.mytribute2him.blogspot.com . The post is titled "So I'll try again...If You Will Hold My Hand" if you want to check it out. Enjoy! In My Shoes 12/27/11 Walk a mile in my shoes Take a journey through my past Observe. Respect. Never assume. Always ask Walk a mile in my shoes Carry my burdens for awhile Suffer every fear, every hurt, each scar, each trial Walk a mile in my shoes See the world through my eyes Feel my love, see my tears, hear my silent cries Walk a mile in my shoes Before you tell me how to live Understand me before advice to me you give You say "o that's easy" Have answers for all my pr...
