The Team Member

there was a little boy on a team one day
He couldn't catch, he couldn't throw
but on the team he wanted to stay
He wasn't there to watch or play
he just helped the team in his own little way
The day he was chosen they didn't want him to stay
He was too slow and they told him so
He was a failure at their sport, the team would never win
But to the championship they were on their way
Because of the boy they chose that day
When the trophy they got
They didn't mention his name
Though he'd contributed a lot to the game
He'd carried the water and chased stray balls
And when the boys fell, an encouragement he'd called
But when he was questioned
very happy he seemed
for he was content just to be a part of the team
Here in the Body you may not receive
The attention you want but don't be deceived
Hold your peace, stay in your place
Everyone here is needed
God sees you all, every person, every face
Be like that little boy and keep working hard
to keep it your dream
to be a part of God's team

Words

A gift from God. A powerful tool. The beginning of love. An abused privilege.   The beginning of fights.  The destroyer of trust. The ink we dip our pens into. The paint of speech.  Words.     ~ Kesheena Words .  The beginning of comprehension. They're the basis of communication among mankind. A talent taught to the youngest of babes from the beginning of life. A powerful tool that, when used correctly enhances our existence yet, is capable of destroying our emotional balance when not. An ability that we often misuse and abuse. Words begin to bombard us the minute we become conscious in the morning. The only reprieve we have from them is when slip into the blissful, unconsciousness of sleep in the night. Even then words continue to permeate our subconscious mind.  There is no escaping them.   Many of us don't realize what power we have within us. The words we use may affect people in ways we aren't even...

Opportunities

A lonely boy headed to nowhere fast. Taking the much walked road running from his past. Going towards disaster. Every failure makes him faster. Till he’s almost out of sight. Hidden by the darkness of night. Trudging through the woods like homeless seeking refuge. Standing beneath a tree as the rains deluge. Will he survive the harshness of life? Can he move on and lay aside his strife? Are the wounds on his knees the only thing he sees? As he leans against the tree, his heart longing to be free, does he know that there is more? A better life God has in store? Just a solitary child, largest smile, spirit mild. Simply asking for some love. Raising her head she looks above. Searching across the skies but no help in sight, a little more of her dies. She’s suffering, hurting, crying, begging. Just wanting someone to hold her. Let her cry on their shoulder. Tell her “girl, I love you.” Not cheap words but feelings true. For too often she’s seen those with eyes glowing green. As they ch...

Forgiveness

Talking about forgiveness in church tonight reminded me of this poem. It's one of my first ones. I was experimenting with styles at the time. I'm not really sure what this one though. Anyway, enjoy! O what a great thing forgiveness is It floods our souls, cleansing every corner Reaching down to the most unworthy To the sinner it stretches forth Man cannot begin to conquer To explain, to tell us how The greatest thing called forgiveness Causes every knee to bow The feeling that engulfs the heart Can never be explained Let all the men forever say Let forgiveness reign in hearts today 4/2/09
