In My Shoes

One day a friend of mine was trying to help me see that I was wrong about something. As a typical human, I instantly became defensive. How dare they attempt to correct me when they hadn't lived my life? What did they know? The story of how this poem came about and the results of our talk are posted on my sister blog: www.mytribute2him.blogspot.com . The post is titled "So I'll try again...If You Will Hold My Hand" if you want to check it out. Enjoy!

In My Shoes
12/27/11

Walk a mile in my shoes
Take a journey through my past
Observe. Respect. Never assume. Always ask
Walk a mile in my shoes
Carry my burdens for awhile
Suffer every fear, every hurt, each scar, each trial
Walk a mile in my shoes
See the world through my eyes
Feel my love, see my tears, hear my silent cries
Walk a mile in my shoes
Before you tell me how to live
Understand me before advice to me you give
You say "o that's easy"
Have answers for all my problems
Even get frustrated when I don't attempt to solve them
One thing and only one I'll ask
Before patience with me you lose
When was the last time

You walked a mile in my shoes?

Pardoned

Pardoned, forgiven, exonerated From our sinful nature liberated All guilt, all blame, and shame Were absolved when Jesus came He came to save yet was rejected Tried and tested, yet finished perfected Sentenced to die like a common criminal A thief on each side with Him in the middle He carried the cross on that long walk The crowd stood by simply to mock With every drive of the stakes in His hands He redeemed the lives of sinful man All around the people jeered They pierced His side with a spear A crown of thorns upon His head He bore the shame for us instead Only when darkness covered the skies Did they truly come to realize The extent of the damage done When they crucified the Chosen One 7/13/14

In The Beginning

This is the first poem I'd ever written. My pastor had just given a lesson on the subject creation and I felt inspired to write this. It was my first taste of poetry and I've been hooked ever since! I believe my talent has grown much since this poem but I wouldn't want to forget where I began..... In the Beginning by Kesheena LeVasseur 02/14/09 In the beginning When God created His Son He said “ Let's make a world” Let it revolve around the Son So in the beginning A world was made The word of God tells us It took Him six days In the beginning God made Adam and Eve Out of the dust of the earth And into them life He breathed In the beginning God created a tree, Outside of the garden, Of which he told them not to eat In the beginning A choice Adam made To disobey God And go his own way And in the beginning Out of Eden they were sent And because of their sin Back to the dust they went Even now today ...

Continue The Work

Here's another one of my first poems. Continue The Work by Kesheena LeVasseur 03/07/09 My Father has died I work in his stead As was his request from his death bed He asked me to continue The work he'd begun To bring forth a people Jesus' bride, His chosen one The work has been hard I've enlisted much help To bring forth a people Gaining no earthly wealth But the work has be profitable So many lives saved From the road of sin Satan himself had paved We bring them to church Preach to them the word Tell them they can make it If their loins they will gird So many have come To have their souls fed For to Jesus Christ They wish to be wed But my time has now come To join my father I will now leave the work To my sons and my daughters I will tell to them As my father told me That to finish this job They must work faithfully The work will be hard The days and nights long They'll find many things That could and will go wrong But don...
