The Greatest Story I've Been Told

As I sat on the couch the other night, in a cozy room with dim lights, I was joined by my wise young brother, who told me a story like no other. He’s always been a great storyteller, each meaning deeper, each story better. So I settled back in that room with low lights and oh what a story did I hear that night. The story starts off with a man on a tree. This story is reverse of what you hear typically. This man was on the tree with thorns on his head. A spear cut his side and they left him for dead. But shortly before he gave up the ghost he uttered some words that haunt me the most. As his tears poured down he raised his gaze up. And with sorrow unmeasured these words he spoke, “Lay not this sin - this crime - to their charge for they know not what they do.” Words spoken with love unparalleled. Never before was there love so true. What say you? This tale you know? Listen closely and I’ll prove it’s not so. For the story I heard, none like it has been written. I’ll prove it to you, ha

Home

I wandered around the city Not knowing that I was lost I bought chains, rings, and baubles Not considering their cost I laid up storehouses of wealth My name known across the land I thought I'd done well for myself Built an empire by hand But if you asked me and I stopped to consider There was no life in my world full of glitter I was rich and yet exceedingly poor Surrounded by gold but empty at the core Then I heard about a country With riches yet untold So I set off on a journey To acquire yet more gold. I walked across the desert My feet burned by the sand Following my maps I journeyed to this strange land When I arrived parched with thirst I ran to the well I saw first I dipped my bucket and drew it with a cry My bucket returned to me completely dry From well to well I ran But the results were all the same Empty my bucket went down And empty up it came I rushed into the town Asking everyone around For water to quench my thirst The longing so stro

Unworthy

How can I ask you for help Im just a common man My needs are so small Greater problems fill your hands Yet when I ask you're never far Faithful and true you always are To heal my wounds and guide my feet My every need Lord you meet. Who am I to call on your name I'm just a speck, a small, sand grain Yet time after time you hear my call You catch me every time I fall I could never, ever find a way The debt of your grace to repay. Thank you lord for all you've done For sending me your only son Tho I crucified him with my sins Your love for me never dims My every longing you do supply I want for nothing as days go by And yet when I forget to thank you Your blessings still come pouring through And though I'm no one, just little me You took time to reach me specifically So it's all I can do to take this time To write these words that seem to rhyme To take this moment and glorify you in it And thank you for grace that's sufficient 8.30.15

Forgive Me, A Simple One

Last night my pastor spoke on Proverbs 1:22-33. The words really pierced my heart. I realize that I have neglected the ways of the Lord for a season and have embraced my foolishness. This is basically my response to the message. It moved me greatly. I have been chastised and I long to correct this situation. Will I continue to love foolishness And the greatest opportunity miss? How long will I ignore His calling? Unaware that into destruction I am falling Lord, please do not forsake me! Laugh not at my calamity. I recognize my simplicity Oh please have mercy on me. I dont want to die on the vine Seeking not your will but mine Refusing to be healed by your touch I need your guidance oh so much A foolish virgin filled with regret Locked outside for the qualifications I'd not met With a little nap and folded hands I removed myself from your plan Oh Lord,  I hope it's not too late For you my part to reinstate My God I ask, when you pass by Please hearken unto my

For Each A Jewel

So recently I've tried my hand at something a little different. Sometimes my poems go so long because I'm trying to tell a story or give a lesson.  So I thought why not just write a story and make it rhyme along the way. So here is my first attempt. Please leave me any feedback. I want to hear from you!!                    For Each A Jewel Listen closely child and I’ll tell you a little tale. It’s about two princesses; two very different girls. The lived their lives as normal girls would. Their lives were very good. Not much in common did they have… except for wearing crowns, as any princess should. The first princess was a beauty, though this tale is not of looks. It’s not your ordinary tale I’m weaving. You won’t find this in other books. Princess 1, as we will call her, was a happy girl indeed. And who wouldn’t be if you had a crown like hers, complains Princess B. Oh what a crown had Princess 1. An extravagant affair. And in the center was the prettiest jewel a princess c

Words Are...

Words are our weapon What a powerful sword we wield There is no armour against them No defense, no shield There's no recovery from its scars No clotting for the bleeding Whether the word is spoken Or it's a document for reading With words we shape our children We build up friends or tear them down Even the smallest phrase Can free a mind or keep them bound Be careful how you use them For once it's drawn there's no going back Use your weapon wisely And not always for attack 6/24/15

The Perfect Path For My Feet

When I look back on my road of life And consider where I've been I simply sit and shake my head On my face a little grin There where days when I thought I'd quit This pathway seemed to steep I'd try to take a detour Forgetting this path was paved for my feet Each stepping stone was wisely placed By the architect and builder Nothing in my path was placed To throw my life off kilter Each step was carefully measured He already knew my stride size He knew when I would stop and sit And where I needed shade to shield my eyes Handholds were strategically planned Each the perfect size of my hand My every need was covered in His plan Such was the wisdom of this great man Sometimes when I felt alone A friends path He'd cross with mine So the encouragement they shared Was given by His ultimate design There were moments I do admit I thought this path was wrong I figured I could find my way This road was just too long So a different way I'd try to go

Isaiah 61

Isaiah 61 verses 1,2, & 3 The Spirit of the Lord  God  is upon me; because the  Lord  hath anointed me to preach good tidings unto the meek; he hath sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to them that are bound;   To proclaim the acceptable year of the  Lord , and the day of vengeance of our God; to comfort all that mourn;   To appoint unto them that mourn in Zion, to give unto them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they might be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the  Lord , that he might be glorified. Words Inspired by Isaiah 61 I've climbed mountains and I've walked through valleys I've fallen into pits and gotten lost in caves But no matter how bad it gets or how far I've gone astray Just in the nick of time Jesus saves His hand guides me back to the path I left The light of His l

BOC Child

Are you lost in church And searching for His people? Is hope not to be found In churches with high steeples? Well Jesus voice is calling Listen close and you will hear Come out of her my people! The way of life is over here Are you tired of being entertained Paying money for lights and games Do you want to find a place Where you'll never be the same? Well I can tell you about a place I've found a church of a different kind Where if you'll run and keep the pace My lord will completely renew your mind For it's here that you can make it Where both truth and life abound So if you're really hungering and thirsting I'll tell you of the oasis I've found You see I'm part of a great work And I'm striving till I die And though someday I'll go to sleep I know again I'll rise I've been called out for a purpose I'm specially chosen for the part And when I think about my priviledge I say My God, how great thou art!
