Standing Out

People are searching for something bold They struggle to defy the common mold To be an original is the ultimate mission As though nothing we have was taught or given They don’t comprehend the simple mysteries Like the greatest of all is the least of these They can’t see the tree with roots stretched to the sky Can’t understand how that to live we must die Perceiving not how to stand our knees Confused by saying all men are like trees They seek answers to questions they can’t state Solutions to problems impossible to formulate Sacrifice to them is great loss They don’t see a trophy only a cross When  the warfare begins They see more fails than wins Not knowing what armor to wear They entered the battle unprepared Because they didn't ever study They don’t recognize the enemy Defeat becomes a constant trend Till death puts the war to end For with eyes not seeing and ears that don’t hear There seems to be nothing special here So how c

Pardoned

Pardoned, forgiven, exonerated From our sinful nature liberated All guilt, all blame, and shame Were absolved when Jesus came He came to save yet was rejected Tried and tested, yet finished perfected Sentenced to die like a common criminal A thief on each side with Him in the middle He carried the cross on that long walk The crowd stood by simply to mock With every drive of the stakes in His hands He redeemed the lives of sinful man All around the people jeered They pierced His side with a spear A crown of thorns upon His head He bore the shame for us instead Only when darkness covered the skies Did they truly come to realize The extent of the damage done When they crucified the Chosen One 7/13/14

Opportunities

A lonely boy headed to nowhere fast. Taking the much walked road running from his past. Going towards disaster. Every failure makes him faster. Till he’s almost out of sight. Hidden by the darkness of night. Trudging through the woods like homeless seeking refuge. Standing beneath a tree as the rains deluge. Will he survive the harshness of life? Can he move on and lay aside his strife? Are the wounds on his knees the only thing he sees? As he leans against the tree, his heart longing to be free, does he know that there is more? A better life God has in store? Just a solitary child, largest smile, spirit mild. Simply asking for some love. Raising her head she looks above. Searching across the skies but no help in sight, a little more of her dies. She’s suffering, hurting, crying, begging. Just wanting someone to hold her. Let her cry on their shoulder. Tell her “girl, I love you.” Not cheap words but feelings true. For too often she’s seen those with eyes glowing green. As they ch
